Some pros call our best-selling, BriteRite® Surface Conditioning Discs "cookies"—maybe because they're a sweet deal when it comes to saving time. Surface Conditioning Discs are for 1/4" die grinders and attach with the Lockit® quick-change mechanism. They are great for gasket, adhesive and sealant removal. They will, also, clean paint, corrosion, scale and other surface contamination, modest burrs and casting "flash" off all kinds of metal parts. For more technical info on these discs, see our Gasket Removal Guide to Higher Learning. Surface Conditioning Discs come in two sizes, 2" and 3", and three grades: Very Fine (blue), for gasket removal from soft metal and light surface conditioning, Medium (maroon) for gasket removal from or general deburring of iron or steel parts and Coarse (brown) for deburring or weld-blending of hard metal parts along with tasks such as applying non-directional finishes on brake rotors. For more product information, please view the Surface Conditioning Discs catalog page.
The two most common uses for Surface Conditioning Discs are gasket removal and conditioning metal surfaces prior to painting or coating.
Coarse Surface Conditioning Discs are for heavy deburring of iron and steel or conditioning brake rotors with the non-directional scratch patterns favored by many automotive service techs.
